Battlefield Acupuncture
Battlefield Acupuncture (BFA) was developed by retired Air Force Col. Dr. Richard Niemtzow for the military health system, originally assisting service members in managing acute pain during combat deployments. Today, BFA is recognised globally for delivering fast, holistic pain relief across both group settings and individual settings.
Recent research backs up these successes:
A 2022 PubMed study (Ear Acupuncture Using the Battlefield Acupuncture Approach for Pain 2022) shows that BFA delivered by Internal Medicine residents can be a safe, effective therapy for outpatient pain management.
A 2023 systematic review (Department of Defence Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) 2023) found statistically significant improvements in pain outcomes for both acute and chronic pain across multiple trials.
However, to evaluate the long-term effects and potential benefits of Battlefield Acupuncture on chronic pain and opioid use, it is necessary to conduct a randomized controlled trial with a larger sample size.
Whether you’re coping with neck pain, rheumatoid arthritis, or simply hoping to reduce reliance on pain medication, Battlefield Acupuncture offers a powerful alternative to commonly prescribed treatments.
